Fall is here with all its crisp, colorful glory and with it a whole new slew of seasonal superfoods. Instead of cucumber, watermelon, and sweet corn, we welcome squash, pears, and apples. Let’s take a closer look at all the fabulous superfoods of Fall.
Whether paired with some almond butter for a snack or cooked into an apple pie, nothing says Fall like apples. And that’s a good thing considering that apples are loaded with skin-loving antioxidants. These antioxidants stave off the free radicals that can cause wrinkles.
Add them to a yummy Fall salad with bleu cheese and walnuts or bake them into a buttery pear tart. Either way, pears contain vitamin C, which is great for collagen production and maintenance to keep your skin from sagging.
Cauliflower is a cruciferous vegetable along with kale, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli, which not only reduces your risk of cancer, but also contains phytonutrients, which keep your skin looking younger longer.
Winter squashes contain omega 3 fatty acids which are known to reduce inflammation. At the cellular level, omega 3 fatty acids clean up sun damage.
Pomegranates are a great source of vitamin C and antioxidants, which helps your skin stave off wrinkles and reduces the damage caused by years of sun.
These foods keep you looking good from the inside out.
