You were likely born with a nearly perfect complexion–soft, baby bright skin with few flaws. But you can avoid an uneven skin tone with a few simple steps.
How to Avoid An Uneven Skin Tone
1. Protect your skin from the sun.
The sun is the cause of so many complexion issues, especially as you age. Protecting your skin from the sun is the best way to even out your complexion. Choose a broad spectrum sunblock with an SPF of 30 or higher. Cover up with hats, clothing, and an umbrella. Additionally, avoid sunlight during prime hours (between 10 am and 4 pm).
2. Exfoliate your skin weekly.
Exfoliate your skin to remove dead layers of skin. Dead skin cells make your skin appear uneven. Choose a gentle method of exfoliation like using a loofah in the shower. Those with sensitive skin should not exfoliate more than once a week.
3. Moisturize your skin daily.
Moisturize your skin daily to keep it even and glowing. Choose a natural moisturizer made with vitamin E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that keeps your skin from aging. Make especially sure to moisturize after bathing and exfoliation. Choose a moisturizer with a built in sunblock as well so you’re never unprotected from the damaging rays of the sun.
4. Use a dark spot corrector.
Target troubled skin areas with a dark spot corrector–a natural product made with citrus unshiu peel extract, licorice extract, and aloe is a great place to start.
5. Disguise dark spots.
Disguise dark spots with a luminous foundation that contains light reflecting particles to detract from any uneveness on your skin.
