The 3 Step Daily Facial That Fades Dark Spots on Face

Dark spots on your face are caused by hyperpigmentation and the over production of melanin in the skin. But fading dark spots on your face is easier than you might think. This 3 step daily facial can make your skin bright and evenly toned naturally. Here’s how to get started:

1. Cleanse and exfoliate.

Hyperpigmentation is often caused by overexposure to UV rays. Removing surface layers of damaged skin will lighten dark spots overtime. Start by cleansing your face with a gentle face wash. After cleansing, hold one half of a lemon rind and rub the juice all over your face. Lemon is a natural exfoliator and the alpha hydroxy acids in lemons encourage the sloughing away of dead skin cells, revealing a layer of bright beautiful skin below.

2. Choose a natural topical treatment.

Choose a natural topical treatment with citrus unshiu peel extract and licorice extract. Citrus unshiu peel extract is a natural skin brightener that helps control melanin biosynthesis to even out the skin tone. It’s a small seedless member of the citrus family, also known as the satsuma mandarin. It’s loaded with antioxidants like carotenoids and flavonoids.

Licorice extract is another key ingredient to look for in a natural topical treatment. It’s the root of a plant called glycyrrhiza glabra, a legume that’s related to beans and peas, native to southern Europe and parts of Asia. Licorice root has a reputation for being a good alternative to more harsh skin lighteners like hydroquinone. It can reduce age spots and hyperpigmentation on the skin. It contains an ingredient called glabridin, which inhibits the enzymes that cause the skin to darken.

3. Cover up.

After you’ve worked to reduce the dark spots that you already have on your skin, it’s important to prevent new ones from forming. Cover up with a hat, large sunglasses, long sleeves, and pants. Wear broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection with an SPF of at least 30 on your face. Reapply throughout the day, especially if you’re outside for long periods of time.
