What’s Toner and Do You Need to Use It?

What’s Toner and Do You Need to Use It?

With all the facial products on the market today, it’s easy for toner to get overlooked. But toner can be a great addition to your beauty routine. Toner is usually used as the second step in your skincare regimen, directly after you cleanse your skin.

Toner does a great job of controlling oil on your skin, but at the same time, it’s not just effective for those that are acne prone. Rather, it often contains antioxidants, which are good for more mature skin as well.

Choose toners that are loaded with high quality natural ingredients like vitamin C, witch hazel (an awesome natural ingredient with astringent properties), aloe, and vitamin E. Alcohol based toners are often too drying, even for those with an oily complexion.

Try this homemade toner:

1/2 oz. hydrosol (Hydrosols are similar to essential oils but much less concentrated)
1/2 tsp. l-ascorbic acid (Another word for pure vitamin C)
5 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops vitamin E oil
A 1 oz. mister bottle

Method

1. Grind the l-ascorbic acid in a spice grinder. Add remaining ingredients to the bottle and shake vigorously.

2. Spray evenly all over your face after cleansing daily.

This DIY toner is an ideal way to pamper your skin naturally, without the harsh chemicals.
