Or if you do decide to venture out, wear plenty of broad spectrum SPF sunscreen and cover up with sunglasses, a hat, and clothing. Not to mention that self tanner is a great way to maintain your tan into the fall. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a beautiful summer glow, rather, it just means that you need to use self tanner to get it. Here are some tips for how to apply self tanner: 1. Make it the last step. When it comes to applying self tanner, do everything else first. Shower, moisturize, shave your legs, and touch up your nails. All of these beauty steps can remove your tanner so it’s best to get them out of the way first. 2. Exfoliate You want your freshest skin on the surface when it’s time to apply self tanner. So before you apply, take the time to exfoliate your skin using a dry brush on your body and a gentle exfoliating scrub on your face. 3. Pick a good product. While self tanning mousses are the easiest to rub in, tanning sprays help you apply on those hard-to-reach areas. 4. Start at the bottom and work up. Start at your feet and work up your body. You may want to wear plastic gloves so you don’t unevenly dye your hands. 5. Don’t over apply on your face. You can always wear bronzer on your face and it’s easy to overdo it. Apply the least self tanner to your face. While self tanner is a great way to avoid getting hyperpigmentation, if you already have it, you may want to avoid self tanner because it can make brown spots darker.
